BTU National Event to be held at:
VALE OF GLAMORGAN GOLF CLUB 5th & 6th JUNE 2008 (Welsh National Course)

In agreeing to run the event in 2008 the South West/South Wales region agreed to take on board some of the thoughts which had come out of previous events. We have endeavoured to make this event as enjoyable as possible. It was felt that most of us only meet each other every two years so our idea is to get everyone mixing together wherever possible.
A few changes we are making:
- There will be an informal dinner on the Thursday evening, to give everyone a chance to meet old friends. Pre-dinner entertainment will be by a local male voice choir.
- The Captain and Secretary’s meeting will be on the Thursday evening giving players more time after the Friday competition.
- Dinner on the Friday will be set out in tables of 12, ie 3 four balls so you will be eating with your playing partners and two other 4 balls. It is normal in most golf societies to dine with your playing partners so we have carried this forward to the Friday evening.
- Entertainment on the Friday evening after the presentation will be John Bentley, the first Rugby League player to change to Rugby Union and Brendan Healy is the comedian. Both I think you will find are very good and we even have the husband of Ruth Maddock as the Toastmaster.
- To assist in getting everyone around the course with time to spare before dinner, we are proposing a 7.30 am tee off time on both days, the breakfast room will be open from 6 am to accommodate this. When you know your travel arrangements let us know so that on the Thursday we can give you a suitable tee time.
- Buggies are also available both days, even off the yellow tees the course is 6576 yard longs with long walks from green to tee. Please let me know if any of your members require a buggy.
- Each player on both days will have a complimentary basket of balls for the driving range prior to their round starting.
- The Vale of Glamorgan have also agreed to set up a temporary bar at the back of the 18th green, so players can relax as their playing members finish.
